Many know that here at LOUPE we live and breathe art. A lot of times we find ourselves obsessing, as if art was a drug of some sort. It is as if we are addicted to every aspect of it; the colors, lines, depth and inspiration behind each and every piece. Seeing as this is the case for me and I am sure many of you as well, it is hard to not think about art. While spending most hours of the day on the internet searching for new artists, I still manage to never tire from this addiction. It has gotten to the point where my social networking life pretty much consists of newsfeeds from friends, art, friend’s art, friend’s other friends art and etc. The other night I was on Instagram; which is a cellular device, social network that thrives on updating photos of anyone and everything you can think of. Think of it as Twitter but for photos, well I have always used this app because not only am I a convicted addict to art, I have been charged with the obsession of photography as well. I think the human race is intrigued with the unknown, things that we do not know, cannot see and sometimes things we do not understand. For the past few weeks I have been hoping that I can find this artist who has been unknown. I ran into this painting on Squarity while browsing at The Art of David Walker. Everything about this image appealed to me in every way. It reminded me of a painting you would see on the walls in LA or even NYC. Writing artist inspirations is usually done where I actually ask the artist what inspired them to make the piece that is being featured. In this case, the artist remains unknown to everyone. The inspiration this week is actually what inspires us as artists, and not just what inspired “The artist.” Emotion is everything when it comes to art, and I think I have said that many times, and in several different articles; however this is the pot of gold to me. This painting reminds me of a photograph, like who ever painted this was captured by this woman’s beauty and did everything that he or she could to portray it all in one painting. Assignment for 5/11/12 - Photoshop Shortcuts

I had a situation come up and will be out of town this Friday. I should be back on Monday. Any banquet money that needs to be paid can be given to Crider, Johnstone, or Marshall. Be sure they write your name down and I will give you a receipt when I return! Sebastian Romowac (T2i) and Justin Buel (XSi) are borrowing cameras over the weekend. Please be responsible. The T3i needs to be placed in the drawer with the Wacom Tablets! You are all responsible for this getting done correctly. Sebastian and Justin, take the cameras after 1st period and take good care of them.

I am sorry I won't be in today. Something came up, but I will be back tomorrow. I know that doesn't mean a whole lot since we start testing tomorrow, but whatever...
ACT 1 - I want you to take an existing image from your files or the internet and add some objects to it based off of the glowing orb tutorial. These could be comets, stars, fireballs, jellyfish, etc. Anything that glows and you can incorporate some particles (pixie dust) to will work. Remember to start with dark colors and work your way brighter. Soft brushes are best and pay attention to your layers!
ACT 2 - You now know when you will be presenting. Now it is time to buckle down and prepare for your portfolio presentation (Junior Purge). It is probably a good time to start thinking about what you are going to say, writing it out, and preparing your artwork. If you haven't submitted personal project 3, you should probably do that, too.

Spending almost 5 hours on hair & make-up reminded me of why I should never be allowed to do make-up & hair. I take so long and am not so familiar with make-up for photography, so a lot of it gets washed out or barely shows up on camera. Luckily this time it wasn't so bad.
